The Best Date Night on the Big Screen

June 17, 2013 By Elizabeth Braatz Leave a Comment

Zaffiro's front view in Mequon at North Shore Marcus TheatreHow hard is it to get out without your kids? It’s almost impossible, especially when they are really young.

If you are looking for something special to do as a couple when you can steal a moment away, consider dinner and a movie. Marcus North Shore Cinema, located on North Port Washington Road, has transformed into quite the destination. In addition to the 11 newly refurbished auditoriums and the 3 story tall UltraScreen®, Marcus North Shore has several fantastic dining options.

Picture this . . . while the babysitter is home with your kids, you’re in Zaffiro’s, the popular Italian restuarant adjacent to the Marcus North Shore Cinema lobby. You’re settled into a cozy booth sharing a large “E.B.F.” (“Everything but Fish (Anchovies)”) pizza featuring Zaffiro’s impossibly thin and outrageously crunchy crust. For dessert, there’s Molly’s Guinness Cake, a chocolate cake made with Guinness stout and served with a scoop of vanilla Häagen-Dazs® ice cream.

When dinner is over, you head upstairs to the Take Five Cocktails & Lounge to savor one last glass of wine before the movie begins. Take Five is specifically for lounging; there are comfortable couches and over-stuffed chairs set in intimate groupings. The perfect place for pre or post movie drinks and conversation. There’s nothing better and the cost of this evening won’t send you over the edge.

Upscale Concessions

Running late and there’s no time to sit down and eat before your movie date? Not to worry . . .

Now you can enjoy a pizza, salad, sandwich or dessert during the movie. The Marcus concession stand features food straight from Zaffiro’s kitchen. Just step right up and order.

If you’re looking for something light, consider the Kitchen Sink Salad, with mushrooms, onions, green peppers, black olives, tomatoes, pepperoncini and mozzarella cheese on a bed of iceberg with Italian dressing. Or, try the Meatball Torpedo, a French baguette stuffed with four meatballs, topped with parmesan cheese and served with a side of marinara. Zaffiro’s Express Menu is specifically geared for those who want to grab a bite to take into the theatre. Of course, the concession stand also serves traditional movie-going fare like popcorn, slushies and Junior Mints.

So, next time you pony up for that babysitter and head out for a date, consider Marcus North Shore Cinema. With Zaffiro’s, Take Five Cocktails & Lounge and plenty of movie options, it’s the perfect one stop date night extravaganza.
