Milwaukee Area Technical College, Mequon Campus
Milwaukee Area Technical College operates a beautiful campus in Mequon on Highland Road, directly to the north of Thiensville.
Situated in a suburban area that’s convenient to Mequon and Thiensville, the two-year, vocational-technical school caters to students with busy lives. The typical Mequon Campus student has the challenge of trying to take classes around their job, family obligations and other responsibilities. To meet their needs, the branch offers courses online and accelerated associate degree programs that only require once-a-week attendance.
The Mequon Campus offers 23 associate degree programs in liberal arts, applied science, and applied arts, as well as five technical diploma programs and 10 certificate programs. Associate degrees are available in areas ranging from automotive technology and business management to landscape horticulture and nursing. Diploma programs are offered in business management, emergency medical technician (basic and intermediate levels) and medical coding. Students can earn certificates in topics like American Indian studies, infrastructure security and supervisory management.
Students can graduate from MATC’s local campus with a diploma in as little as one year and earn an associate’s degree in two years. Or they can complete a certificate in just six months.
Many students begin working on their bachelor's degree by taking two years worth of classes at the Mequon Campus and then transferring their credits to four-year colleges and universities. This results in lower education for students and affords them the convenience of taking classes close to home.

Other campus amenities include a bookstore, public safety office, JOBshop student employment center and a child care center.
The Mequon Campus is one of four branches operated by MATC. The main campus is located in downtown Milwaukee on West State Street, with two other branches in Oak Creek and West Allis.
In addition to awarding associate degrees, technical diplomas and certificates, MATC operates an adult high school for people who need to enhance their skills or who don’t have a high school diploma. The college also provides continuing education credit and personal enrichment programs.
MATC offers a total of nearly 100 academic and career majors. Each year, it conducts more than 4,000 classes throughout the area, at 12 evening centers, five adult day centers, and on television through College of the Air.
